Election night on 9News always brings with it some weird and wonderful ways to illustrate politicians losing their seats.

There have been shark pools, crushers, and even a robot.

Until then, let’s take a look at 9News’ previous election gimmicks for Victorian and Federal elections.

It was inspired by former Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s impromptu ukulele performance at Kirribilli House, where he serenaded Karl Stefanovic for a 60 Minutes story.

The 2019 Federal Election coverage gimmick was the Bish Boot, modelled off a striking pair of red stilettos Julie Bishop wore when she resigned from her position in Cabinet.

”It is my functional work boot,” Ms Bishop said of the now-iconic heels.

The Bish Boot was used to show pollies being literally kicked out of office.

At the 2018 Victorian election, the Grand Slammer knocked out losing politicians.

Presenter Tony Jones also took the Grand Slammer for a go.

The 2016 Federal election saw the Crusher get rid of politicians who ended up in a “political scrapheap”.
