Currently led by chief executive Kelly Ogle (pictured), A-Plan became part of Howden in 2021 as a result of the “UK broking powerhouse” deal, which was first announced in 2020. The arrival of the A-Plan meant a significant expansion of Howden’s retail distribution and specialist product capabilities in the UK.

Subsequently, Howden also acquired Aston Lark, with plans to combine it with Howden UK and A-Plan. As reported, Aston Lark started its rebrand countdown a week ago.

Considering A-Plan’s own name change, ogly said: “Two years ago we joined Howden Group. Like A-Plan, Howden is a British business that knows no bounds in delighting and taking care of its customers. It was founded by David Howden and two of his friends in London in 1994.

“Since then, it has grown to become one of the UK’s largest independent insurance brokers, with offices around the world serving local people locally. The culture hasn’t changed since David started the business – its customer focus matches ours, and that’s why it’s an ideal home for A-Plan.

“When we joined the Howden family, we said we would change our name when the time was right. Now that time is, and I’m excited to announce that Howden will be the new name for A-Plan beginning in October. That’s the only thing that’s changing. “The people who have looked after you will continue to do so from within our local communities.”

Other businesses that began trading as Howden today include Cotters Insurance Brokers and Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers. Aston Lark have announced their offer for Bruce Stevenson in 2021.

Meanwhile, in addition to the rebranding of its subsidiaries, Howden is now also introducing a new look with its revised logo.
