Sen. said. Mitt Romney (R-UT) criticized the former President Donald Trump for promising to be a “dictator” on the first day of his presidency if re-elected, the addition of individuals should not be “literal” or “serious.”

In a Fox News town hall Tuesday night, the Republican frontrunner said Sean Hannity he would only become a “dictator” on the “first day” of his potential return to the White House after the Fox News host asked him to promise to “never abuse power in retaliation against anyone.”

Trump said he would use his first day in office to close the border and drill for oil and added, “After this, I’m not a dictator, ok?”

On Capitol Hill Wednesday, Romney took questions from reporters about Trump’s response last night, dismissing his claims of a dictatorship as “absurd.”

“You know, it’s fun. Donald Trump says so much nonsense that I don’t know how you’re going to answer it,” Romney told reporters. “So I kind of laugh and think he’s trying to entertain his base. It’s a dangerous course to go down, of course , but that’s what he does on a regular basis. And I kind of laugh at what he says.”

Watch the interaction below:

“The other day he said, we’re going to get rid of Obamacare. It’s like, what do you have? You said that when you were president, did you introduce a plan to replace Obamacare? No. So at some point you realize that you don’t need him literally and you don’t even have to take him seriously,” he concluded.
