As school heads back for 2023, parents around the country are bracing themselves for another year of packing lunchboxes.
“It doesn’t have to be difficult to make a nutritious and tasty lunchbox for kids every morning”, according to dietitian, nutritionist and mum-of-twins Susie Burrell.
Here, Susie shares her simple five-step plan with 9Honey Parenting.

1. Brightly-coloured vegetables
“My favourites are baby cucumbers, baby tomatoes and sliced capsicum. And remember – kids are more likely to eat if they’re cut into child-friendly, bite-sized pieces.”
2. Fresh fruit
3. Protein-rich snacks
“Go for something like cheese and crackers, a flavoured milk or small yoghurt.”
4. Snack food
“There are so many snack foods out there. I love roasted broad beans or chickpeas, vege-based chips or homemade mini muffins.
