Jennifer Garner’s ‘Quick as Possible’ Makeup Routine

Jennifer Garner’s beauty routine can’t be described as languid. “Pretty much I’m getting it done as quickly as possible,” she tells Vogue. “Any kind of skin care, any kind of self-care is like….” She makes a sound that approximates the whoosh of a rocket ship. And with that it’s time for blastoff.

After a double cleanse with Rationale balm and Neutrogena cleanser, followed by exfoliation with Your Favorite Ex pads, she pats Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid into her face and neck. “I happen to know about hyaluronic acid,” the Neutrogena ambassador says. “It brings and locks moisture at the surface of your skin, so it adds a layer of poof.” She tops her bouncy skin off with Neutrogena moisturizer and sunscreen, then—poof!—she’s ready for makeup.

Calling the Westman Atelier Foundation Stick her “favorite thing,” the Once Upon a Farm executive recalls her pandemic-era Zoom tutorials with hairstylist Adir Abergel and makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua. “They would be laughing at me so hard because I had no idea what was going on,” she recalls. “But I figured it out, and it actually did change what I know about makeup forever.” Such as? “I now know the importance of a bronzer,” Garner solemnly announces.

She gets a touch of bronze from Chanel’s creamy formulation, making sure to blend some of it into her neck. “You don’t want to look like a popsicle,” she asserts. Once she’s given her eyes and cheeks a sun-kissed glow, Garner is pleased to see that she’s “coming to life”— but she’s ready for a little more color.

Stila’s multipurpose blush comes next, applied with little restraint. “It’s my face—I’ll party if I want,” the Alias star says before picking up the Chanel brow pencil she’s proud to call a “friend.” Though she used to have “a lot of brows, I don’t so much anymore,” she explains. “I gotta help them out a little.”

Because she’s feeling “fancy” for Vogue, Garner crimps her lashes using her favorite tool for the job: the Surratt Relevée Lash Curler. Some lengthening swipes of Westman Atelier’s mascara are next, followed by an “indulgence” with a French provenance. “I really like an Hermès lipstick,” the Texas native says with a cheeky wince. “Don’t tell my mom!”
