Gandhi later challenged the order before the high court here.
After hearing the matter, the HC imposed a stay of 30 days on the operation of the non-bailable arrest warrant.
Gandhi allegedly made defamatory remarks against Union Minister Amit Shah at a rally in Chaibasa ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
One Pratap Kumar of Chaibasa filed a case against Gandhi for his statement.
Kumar said in his petition filed in the Chaibasa magistrate’s court that Gandhi’s remarks were defamatory and deliberately made to malign Shah’s image.
