Mum’s lunchbox treat raises eyebrows

School lunches have definitely turned a new page. Parents are now more focused on providing balanced meals and schools can even police what snacks kids bring into their school.
TikTok users found themselves up in arms when one mum listed her three-year-old son’s lunchbox contents and said she would be putting raisins in the ‘treat’ section of her son’s bento lunchbox.
One user, @MuddleThroughMummy, has close to 300,000 followers on the video sharing app. The mum posts parenting content and occasionally films herself preparing meals for her boys.

In one video, the mum can be seen putting cheese, homemade protein balls, heart-shaped strawberries, blueberries and cucumbers in her three-year-old son’s lunchbox.
“I’m no Pinterest mum but I can just about stretch to heart-shaped strawberries,” the mum jokes.
However, in the designated ‘treat’ section of the lunchbox, she poured in a packet of raisins.
“RAISINS ARE A TREAT?” one bewildered user commented.

“Raisins as a treat? Poor kid,” another commenter lamented.
The mum held her own and responded to one of the comments jesting: “Just to clarify I said ‘raisins in the treat section.'”
Not everyone in the comment section agreed raisins could not belong in the ‘treat’ section of the lunchbox, though.
“Why are people complaining about the raisins? We had them as snacks all the time,” one commenter asked.

“I’d be more than happy with this if I was little,” another commenter said in defence.
Whilst TikTok users found themselves divided over whether they would dub raisins as a ‘treat’, one mum in the U.K. found herself in the opposite situation.
The mum says she had packed her son a bite-size cake as a treat in his lunchbox. However, when he returned home later that day she was infuriated to find out the treat had been confiscated by day-care staff for being ‘too unhealthy’ according to new school lunchbox guidelines.
