Campaigning for the bypolls to the Mainpuri Lok Sabha and Rampur assembly seats has been packed with emotional and dramatic moments. Even the BJP is mindful of his immense popularity in the region and leaders, including CM Yogi Adityanath, have been paying tributes to him in their addresses before moving on to attack the SP. Yogi even said SP was trapping voters in an “emotional loop” but they must not be deceived. – In a significant development on Wednesday, in Jaswantnagar, Shivpal asked people to address Akhilesh as “chhote netaji”.
In Rampur, where Azam Khan has been the MLA ten times, the BJP is trying to win the seat for the first time ever. SP has propped Khan’s close aide Asim Raza against BJP’s Akash Saxena. On Sunday, in an address, Khan broke into tears as he appealed to people to vote for Raza and not to “betray him”. “Please do not betray me. I do not have much time,” Khan said.
