Three inmates are still on the run after escaping jail in the Northern Territory late on Wednesday night.
Dylan Mamarika, Rogan Lalara and Jamian Bara Bara men escaped from Holtze Correctional Facility near Darwin around 10.30 pm.
The trio were housed in low-security cottages for inmates who regularly leave the correctional facility to work in the community.
Northern Territory Police are seeking public assistance to locate three male prisoners who absconded from the Darwin Correctional Precinct at Holtze yesterday.
How they escaped from the facility 30km east of Darwin remains unclear, and they’ve now been on the run for more than 17 hours.
‘We had patrols out last night, and inquiries are continuing with their known associates and their addresses,’ Northern Watch Commander Meacham King said.
‘Based on their correctional history, we don’t anticipate they pose a risk to the community, but we’re asking people to remain vigilant.’
Mr Mamarika is described as Aboriginal, aged 29 with a medium build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve high visibility yellow shirt that is blue from the elbows down and dark blue shorts.
Mr Lalara is described as Aboriginal, aged 33 with a medium build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve high visibility yellow shirt that is blue from the elbows down and dark blue shorts.
Also known as Darwin Correctional Centre, Holtze is a minimum to maximum security prison with a capacity for up to 1,028 inmates.
Mr Bara Bara is described as Aboriginal, aged 38 with a medium build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve high visibility yellow shirt that is blue from the elbows down and dark blue shorts.
Their direction of travel once they left the facility is unknown.
