A three-month-old baby was among four people killed when debris from a Russian drone fell on an apartment block in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa overnight, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said on Saturday.
Officials said eight people also suffered injuries.
Odessa regional governor Oleh Kiper said the debris was from a Shaheed drone that was shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the area was attacked by eight drones, and seven of them were shot down by air defense.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, air defense forces across Ukraine shot down 14 out of 17 drones launched against the country.
Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Sinihubov said Saturday morning that more than 20 settlements in the eastern Ukrainian province had been hit by Russian artillery and mortar attacks, while high-rise buildings in the regional capital, also known as Kharkiv, were damaged by drone strikes.
He said there were no injuries, but three people suffered an “acute stress reaction”.
In the partially captured Kherson region, Russian artillery shelling killed a 53-year-old man on Saturday morning, the Kherson regional prosecutor’s office said.

A drone crashed into an apartment building in St. Petersburg, Russia on Saturday morning, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.
Six people received medical assistance after the explosion in the building, the agency said, citing the press service of the city’s health care committee.
The Mash news site said the apartment building was attacked by a Ukrainian drone, a claim that could not be verified by The Associated Press.
The site published videos showing the moment of the attack on the apartment building, showing a bright flash of light on one side of the building and pieces of debris flying in the air. In another video, the car alarm is going off.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has not commented on this incident.
According to the Russian Investigative Committee, an investigative team was attacked by a Ukrainian drone in Russia’s Bryansk region, bordering Ukraine.
Two team members were injured and two others suffered a shock, the committee wrote on Telegram.
Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine recently passed the two-year mark. As the conflict continues, drones have become an important tool of war for both sides.
